It has to sound good and be user friendly for you, and only you. You have already been there and done that I imagine.Īs long as you like the total sound of the combined parts, that's all that really matters.
Parsec no sound plus#
Of course, you may not want to hear what your source plus pre plus amplifier plus speakers sound like un-tweaked and un-equalized. If you decide to keep you cables short at 1 meter (I know that you won't, but "if"), you can ditch the tube buffer and gain some more clarity yet again. But turning down the tweeter doesn't change what comes before it. That's why you reached for your tweeter attenuator in the other thread.

(You don't list your gear, so I will guess.) I think you probably just turned the treble control up to the flat position with the cable change, and now you can hear what's really going on. You probably have a lot less capacitance hanging on the output of your tube buffer now, which itself is probably a high output impedance device in the first place.

Wow! You went from 7 meters down to 1 meter? I think that right there is the primary reason for the increased clarity (and brightness), regardless of which type of cable you switched to. so the Kimber Hero is no slouch either in the can sound fine dept. One point is the sound had to travel through my seven meters Kimber Hero IC from pre to amp. Also A good sign the money was well spent.Īs you can read i am a big treble nut. Anyway, the new wires are showing up stuff I never heard before. maybe they used a bad mike and just tried to fluff it over. I guess they forgot to record the violin section at 16 bits or something. The recording was made in 1983 and an early digital recording. So the new cable is also letting me hear the grunge in recordings I never noticed before. I mean they sound like a cardboard cutout or cold porridge. (everything sounded good, but nothing stood out as wow.Īnyway a few days later i am playing a CD of Falla: Three Corner Hat, Dutoit. The strings in it are ghastly. Lots of other music some ? by then I am not remembering exactly what stuff sounded like before. happy is the word i would call the sound. And Golly suddenly the quartets sounded good.I mean the strings still had bite, but they sounded nice. So i stick on the Parsec on the output of tube buffer to my preamp. the strings sounded a little cold and steely. I had been listening to a bunch pf Haydn string quartets on Naxos lable. So far the very first thing at the moment I stuck the pair in. I like the Parsec activities I ordered another one to further the experiment. Moral: never trust homemade IC, no matter the pedigree of the wire. I used it for years no problem.Īnyway, after i stick the new Parsec in there I am well wow that old IC really was holding stuff back. So this pair of RCa was sound fine to me. The cable of least favor in my setup was a butchered bit of Kimber silver KDGL I carved into a pair of IC using some RCA I stole from a pair of Kimber PBJ (Kimber RCA Ultraplate) About it being very clear, and having the tech like the new upper $$$ Cardas, but having a touch of the warmth of Cardas of old. So i am pretty happy with my system in general, but something about the new Cardas parsec blurb.
